The conjunction “那”

In Chinese, the conjunction 那 (nà) is placed at the beginning of a sentence to mean “in that case”, “then”, or “so”. It introduces a result, decision, or response based on what was just said or the given context.

Example 1

我(Wǒ)不(bù)想(xiǎng)去(qù)看(kàn)电(diàn)影(yǐng)。

A: I don't want to go watch a movie.

那(Nà)我(wǒ)也(yě)不(bù)去(qù)了(le)。

B: In that case, I'm not going either.

Example 2

（明(Míng)天(tiān)的(de)考(kǎo)试(shì)）我(wǒ)早(zǎo)就(jiù)复(fù)习(xí)好(hǎo)了(le)。

A: I've already finished reviewing (for tomorrow's exam) long ago.

那(Nà)也(yě)不(bù)能(néng)一(yì)直(zhí)玩儿(wánr)啊(a)。
