Reduplication of monosyllabic adjectives: AA的
In Chinese, single-character (monosyllabic) adjectives can be reduplicated in the pattern AA的 (AA de). This structure is used to vividly describe the features of a person or object and to intensify the degree of the adjective (similar to English expressions like “bright red”, “vibrant green”, or “tiny little”).
Grammar Rules
1. Intensification and vividness: a single adjective (A) is doubled into (AA) and followed by the structural particle 的 (de). This highlights a high degree of the quality and often adds an affectionate or charming tone.
2. No adverbs of degree: because the reduplication itself already conveys intensity, adverbs of degree such as 很 (hěn — very) cannot be placed before the reduplicated adjective.

Examples
你送的花红红的，我很喜欢。
The flowers you sent are bright red; I like them very much.
这些草绿绿的，真漂亮。
This grass is a vibrant green; it is really pretty.

你女儿长得白白的、胖胖的，真可爱！
Your daughter is fair-skinned and chubby; she is so cute!
Important Note
The AA的 structure carries a warm, endearing nuance and is frequently used when describing children, pets, physical traits, or picturesque scenery.
Never place adverbs like 很 (hěn) or 非常 (fēicháng) in front of AA的 adjectives (incorrect: 很红红的).
