The structure “越来越 + Adj / Mental Verb”

In Chinese, 越来越 (yuè lái yuè) is followed by an adjective or a mental verb (e.g. 喜欢, 想, 爱) to indicate that a degree or state is continuously increasing over time (equivalent to “more and more...” or “-er and -er” in English).

Examples: 越来越冷 (yuè lái yuè lěng) — colder and colder; 越来越喜欢 (yuè lái yuè xǐhuan) — like ... more and more.

Important Rule

Do NOT use adverbs of degree such as 很 (hěn — very) or 非常 (fēicháng — extremely) after 越来越. ❌ 越来越很热 (Incorrect) ❌ 越来越非常想 (Incorrect)
