Sentences with an adjectival predicate
In Chinese an adjective can serve as the predicate on its own.
Before the adjective there may be:
an adverb of degree;
or a negative adverb.
Basic structure
Subject + (adverb of degree / negation) + adjective
Meaning:
it says what someone or something is like.
这儿的水果真不少！
这儿的水果zhèr de shuǐguǒthe fruit here
真zhēnreally
不少bù shǎoquite a lot
Here 不少 serves as the adjectival predicate.
我的房间不大
我的房间wǒ de fángjiānmy room
不bùnegation
大dàbig
Here 不 stands before the adjective and negates it.
那个苹果好吃
那个苹果nàge píngguǒthat apple
好吃hǎochītasty
Here 好吃 serves as the predicate directly.
