Here 也 adds the second, parallel statement.
王老师是北京人，李文也是北京人
王老师是北京人Wáng lǎoshī shì Běijīng rénTeacher Wang is from Beijing
李文也Lǐ Wén yěLi Wen too
是北京人shì Běijīng rénis from Beijing
Here 也 says that two people share the same trait.
我喜欢喝中国茶，还喜欢吃中国菜
