Meaning
结果 has two uses: 1. A noun — “result”, “outcome”. 2. A conjunction — “as a result”, “in the end”.

下雨了，所以我没去。
It rained, so I didn't go.
他努力学习，所以通过了考试。
He studied hard, so he passed the exam.
他每天学习到半夜，结果还是没通过考试。
He studied until midnight every day, and in the end he still didn't pass.
他没有好好准备，结果考试没通过。
He didn't prepare properly, and in the end he failed the exam.
When small shortfalls add up
有些人爱说“差不多”。
Some people like to say “near enough”.
例如，每天的工作都是完成得差不多，结果，积累下来，就变成差很多了。
Each day's work is “near enough” done — and the result, once it all piles up, is a very long way off.
所以 → a logical consequence: this cause, therefore this result.
结果 → what actually happened in the end, often an unexpected one.
